The battle for AFRICA

by | Aug 23, 2024

At UFC 305, the Middleweight Champion fighting out of South Africa did it again.

Dricus Du Plessis showcased a game plan that successfully countered Israel Adesanya’s striking prowess.

Forbes reported the tap-out loss as the first submission setback of Adesanya’s career (HERE).

Before the fight, a war of words erupted over who truly represented Africa.

The fight was dubbed ‘the battle for Africa’ by the BBC.

This made for a huge spectacle, and ultimately, Africa won.

On a similar note, Olympic gold medallist Letsile Tebogo arrived home to a hero’s welcome (HERE).

This was the country’s first ever Olympic gold medal.

What made the win more special was defeating the spectacular Noah Lyles.

This will be the first time since 2018 that Noah Lyles will not end his season ranked #1 in the 200m.

There is another battle facing the African continent: BEC.

According to Interpol, business compromise email is the most prevalent cyber threat in Africa.

Orange Cyberdefense has identified this as the single largest cyber threat to businesses in South Africa.

Whilst the continent is doing well on the UFC and athletics front, the outcome of this challenge is still unknown.
